MP Kerry visits school

Published on: 01 Dec 2017

THE school council at St Joseph's Catholic Primary in Fishponds played host to Bristol East MP Kerry McCarthy as part of a programme of activities for UK Parliament Week.

Ms McCarthy spoke to the children about her work in the constituency and in Parliament, answered questions and presented certificates to children who had participated in the school's debate on the topic, Are Politicians Useful?

The visit was arranged by Adeline Okpiyalele, who helped set up the school council just over a year ago. Since it started, the council has introduced changes on the playground and has been involved in improvements to school dinners, building on the slogan "healthy and nutritious can be delicious".
