GALLIFORD Try, the developers of the Blackberry Hill Hospital site, are about to submit a planning application to Bristol City Council for hundreds of homes.

They unveiled their plans for the 21-acre site at an exhibition at Fishponds Library last month.

The  intention is to convert some of the old buildings into apartments and build new homes on the brownfield site off Manor Road, which was bought by the Homes and Communities Agency from North Bristol NHS Trust in 2009.

As revealed by Fishponds Voice in December, Curo, which was to have developed affordable homes on the site, pulled out of the venture because of “escalating costs and complexity”.
