Cigarettes and cash stolen in Tesco burglary

BURGLARS who broke in to the Tesco Metro in Staple Hill in the early hours of today took cash and cigarettes.

Avon and Somerset police say the break-in at the supermarket in Broad Street is believed to have happened at some point between 3am and 3.45am.

A police spokesperson said officers were looking at CCTV footage as part of the investigation and called for witnesses to get in touch.

He added: “A quantity of cash and cigarettes is believed to have been taken.”

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We are helping police with their investigation into a break-in at our Staple Hill Metro store in the early hours of this morning.”

Anyone who witnessed what happened or has been offered cigarettes in suspicious circumstances should call the police on 101 or make a report online, quoting the crime rerference number 5220 094 595.
