CABOT Learning Federation, which runs a number of schools in east Bristol, is set to support a struggling primary in Easton.

The federation has been asked by the Department for Education to consider taking on the sponsorship of Millpond Primary School, which has been placed in special measures by the education watchdog Ofsted.

In response,  it has committed to supporting the school formally from September 2017.  It will provide leadership and specialist support both from within its own capacity and in collaboration with other partners, such as the Bristol Primary Teaching School Alliance.

Steve Taylor, CEO of the Cabot Learning Federation said: “We are very much looking forward to working with colleagues at Millpond. The work that has been ongoing at the school since January, under the interim leadership of Margaret Gwynne has clearly been having a large positive impact, setting the school up well for the new year. We’re really keen to support learners and work closely with the local community to secure Millpond Primary School as their school of choice.”

The east Bristol primary academies of Begbrook, Minerva, Frome Vale and Summerhill are all part of Cabot Learning Federation along with two other primaries in South Gloucestershire and another in North Somerset.
