Fishponds May Day

CROWDS turned out in force for the seventh annual St George’s Day celebration in Fishponds Park.
The event was organised by Activate, a group that aims to bring the people of Fishponds together.
Free cakes and tea were served by the Methodist Guides.
The children were entertained by the Punch and Judy man and the adults by the lively dancing from the Bristol Morris Men. In between all enjoyed the music of  Canon Fodder, a local folk band.
Mary Barrington, of Activate, said: “Even Specsavers joined in with their balloons and fun bags. It was so good to see such a large number gathering together in the park.”
The group also holds monthly lunchtime concerts in Fishponds Methodist Church and in August it will stage its 10th Horticultural and Craft Show.
