A FREE health and wellbeing telephone information service will be open on weekdays throughout Christmas and the New Year.

Lines to Well Aware, based at the Vassall Centre in Fishponds, will be open from from 9am to 4.30pm, apart from during the bank holidays on December 26 and 27 and January 2.

People in Bristol and South Gloucestershire can also find advice on the Well Aware website (www.wellaware.org.uk ), with categories ranging from ‘support around the home’ and ‘socialising’ to ‘getting around’ and ‘personal health services’.

Although the website is used extensively by individuals and professionals many people don’t have access to a computer and others prefer to talk to another human being.

Spokesman David Harwood said: "When you phone, all you have to do is tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll look up the information for you and tell you on the phone, by email or print it out and put it in the post. It’s as simple as that."

To get in touch with the charity's small team, call freephone 0808 808 5252 during weekday office hours.
