Man beaten and threatened with knife in cycle path robbery

A MAN was beaten and threatened with a knife as he was mugged on the Bristol and Bath Railway Path.

The victim, a man in his 20s, had just left the Plough pub in Easton Road and was walking along the path, which runs parallel to Whitehall Road between Fishponds and the city centre, when he was hit from behind.

Avon and Somerset police say he fell to the ground and was hit several times around the face by a number of attackers.

One of the offenders threatened him with a knife before his phone, wallet and keys were stolen.

The incident happened between 1am and 1.15am on Friday June 7.

Police revealed details today as they released a CCTV image of a man they want to identify in connection with the knifepoint robbery.

They called on anyone who recognises the man in the picture to call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5219 126 676.
