Man suffers serious stab wounds in 'unprovoked attack' in Fishponds Road

A MAN suffered serious stab wounds when he was attacked in Fishponds Road.

Police today appealed for witnesses to what they described as an "unprovoked attack" on New Year's Eve.

The victim is still in hospital a week after the attack, which happened at 4.40pm, and has so far been unable to give officers a description of his attacker or attackers.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesperson said the 30-year-old man was standing by his car near the junction with Freemantle Road when he was attacked from behind.

The spokesperson added: "He suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital undergoing treatment. The injuries are not life-threatening.

"We don’t have a description of the offender or offenders available at this stage, as we haven’t been able to get an account from the victim."

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area for evidence.

Anyone who thinks they saw any part of the incident or may have information which can help the investigation should call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5219 299 942.
