FIRST has been confirmed as the first operator for Bristol’s new MetroBus services.

It will start operating the route from Ashton Vale to Temple Meads in the autumn.

First has already ordered the guided buses it will use on the route. These will be tested over the summer and drivers will be trained on how to use the guided busway.

Work is continuing on the route of the Cribbs Causeway to Hengrove Park route, which will serve north Bristol.

This includes widening Stoke Lane to create a bus lane. MetroBus says that while this work, due to be completed in early autumn, is going on there will be some narrow lanes and short-term traffic lights. The cycleway/ footpath will remain open. The stone cladding of the new retaining wall is almost done.
