JUDGES have given a special green accolade to an Eastville school.

May Park Primary has been awarded a Silver Gilt Award for taking learning outside the classroom and using school grounds to enrich the curriculum.

The school boasts a woodland area which is used as a forest school to develop hands-on learning.

Judges from Bristol In Bloom Community Association said the school’s alfresco sessions were “a fantastic example of outdoor learning and play utilising the forest school facility. All of the children are given the opportunity to experience and observe nature at first hand”.

The school will now aim for the Gold award next year.
