Staple Hill supermarket staff threatened by shoplifter who claimed he had a knife

POLICE are trying to trace a man who threatened staff at Staple Hill's Iceland store, claiming that he had a knife.

Officers say the man entered the shop in Fountain Square on April 27 at about 9.45am and stole food.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesperson said: "He left via the store entrance and threatened staff when challenged, claiming to be in possession of a knife."

Police released CCTV footage of the man today and asked for anyone who recognises him, or has any other information which could help their enquiry, to call 101, quoting crime reference number 5221 090 188.
