Teenage boy attacked by muggers on mopeds in busy Fishponds street

A TEENAGE boy was taken to hospital after being stabbed by muggers riding mopeds on a busy road in Fishponds.

The 14-year-old was attacked by as he walked along Manor Road, near the Homefield Drive junction, at around 6pm on Saturday.

Avon and Somerset police have arrested two 17-year-old boys on suspicion of robbery.

A spokesperson said the robbery was reported by South Western Ambulance Service after paramedics were called to the incident.

The spokesperson added: "The victim was taken to hospital after being wounded by a number of males riding mopeds.

"His wallet and mobile phone were reported stolen.

"House-to-house and CCTV enquiries are underway.

“Two 17-year-old males were arrested on suspicion of robbery. Both have been released under investigation."

A relative of the victim told the Voice he had been stabbed in the back by his attackers, who later threw away his phone.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5222 011 658.
