Teenager in critical condition after being stabbed in Fishponds
A 17-YEAR-old boy is in hospital after being repeatedly stabbed in a Fishponds street.
The teenager was attacked at about 8pm yesterday in Ridgeway Road and was taken to hospital, where police said he was in a "critical but stable" condition today.
A search of the area was made overnight by police on the ground and using the force helicopter.
A man was arrested but was later released without charge.
Avon and Somerset police say the victim "sustained a number of stab wounds".
Detective Inspector Roger Doxsey of the force's Major Crime Investigations Team said: “The victim remains in hospital at this time and is in a critical, but stable, condition.
“This was a vicious attack and a police scene remains in place at this time.
"Additional patrols are also planned and I’d urge anyone with concerns to speak with those officers.
“We are grateful for the witnesses who have spoken with us so far.
"We understand there were a number of people in the park near Moorlands Road around the time of this incident, and would particularly appeal for them to contact the police with any information, however small it may seem, as it could have an important impact on our investigation.”
Police were continuing their enquiries today, including reviewing CCTV footage recorded in the area.
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5221 031 520.
Police also said that anyone who knows who was responsible can pass information on anonymously through independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, adding: "They never tell the police who you are, just what you know."
