CAMPAIGNERS have won their battle to stop development on a site in the Frome Valley.

CAMPAIGNERS have won their battle to stop development on a site in the Frome Valley.

The plot off Welsford Avenue in Stapleton has officially been designated a village green, meaning it cannot be built on.

The Save Frome Valley @ Stapleton group sought the additional protection for Colston's Field, on the edge of the 30-acre grounds of Colston's School, after successfully lobbying against plans for a dozen houses on the site.

Bristol City Council turned down the proposal from Woodstock Homes in 2015 after councillors agreed it was incompatible with the Stapleton and Frome Valley Conservation Area and with the local historic park and garden and its setting.
